I don’t know what happened in my optical mouse. It suddenly became quirky. It would suddenly stop responding in the middle of dragging or clicking. It’s too troublesome when I’m trying to navigate the internet or do some meaningful task in my computer. I don’t have a spare mouse right now so I just use my keyboard to navigate menus and links. Pressing tab too many times is really tiring and irritating. I think I have to buy a new mouse really soon. The earliest would be tomorrow if I have some money to spare, which is very unlikely.

I really hope that my mouse would behave properly. However, I think the problems lies inside the circuit board because it automatically clicks randomly sometimes. It’s not as easy as wiping up the accumulated dirt in the mouse ball. Besides, I don’t know how to clean an optical mouse. I’m also afraid to use it now because it may suddenly fire up and click on something I do not intend to click. The result may vary and it could be dangerous if I am working on something important or sensitive.

It’s becoming more and more inconvenient now because I have been depending on mouse for most of my computer works. Who would not use a mouse today anyway? *sigh* Remember the days when there’s no GUI. Who needs a mouse? Classic.

As a youngster, I watched a lot of Transformers cartoons (the original series) and I collected some toys too (LOL). It was still popular in the early 90’s. I was still a kid back then so I’m one of those young boys who believed that cars could turn into walking robots.

Things are different now. At least 12 years had passed since I watched the cartoon series and I was skeptical when I read last year that a Transformer movie is actually being produced — not a cartoon but a hollywood movie filled with CGI and real action. It’s real. Who would have guess we’ll get a movie based on toys and cartoons of the 1980s? The boyish part of me tells me to get excited yet I can’t anticipate that much because I might be dissapointed. I could not remember many details about Transformers so I’m very interested to see the first teaser online.

Last Saturday, µTorrent 1.6 was released and the best thing since sliced bread… just got even better.

The new version features improved download and upload speeds. It also handles BitComet peers better than the previous versions. This tiny bit torrent client now features revamped intelligent configurable disk caching system which actually protects your hard drive. This new feature may increase resource utility when enabled but the increase is minimal. With disk caching feature on, I normally get around 13MB memory usage but when the downloads are finished and when the caching is not needed, µTorrent maintains a very low footprint of 7MB which is comparable to early versions of µTorrent.

µTorrent 1.6 also has an auto shutdown feature. This is useful to leechers but not really useful to bit torrent seeders. After all you won’t need to turn off your computer after downloading because you want to upload, upload and upload to increase your share ratio.

Over all I’m glad that µTorrent 1.6 lives up to the µTorrent’s trademark: it’s still very small and resource friendly. Even with the disk caching system on it didn’t have a significant degration on performance. Actually, I didn’t notice the difference on performance when the disk cache is on and off. All I know is that it saves my hard drive so I just enable it.

“I’m always around” … but It feels weird to be missing in the blogosphere within 2 months. It was natural for me to prioritize what has to be prioritized so I left this blog stagnant for so long. What I really miss is the technology updates that I usually blog about. *sigh*

To make this short and simple, I want to thanks those people in supporting me and my groupmates for the last 3 months in our thesis. You know who you are
