Just a day after Nero 7.0.0.0 was released, bit torrent sites have already released repacked version of this bloated digital media package. Why bloated? You’ll be surprised that it is a massive 100.1 MB download. :) That’s because Nero 7 Premium includes more software than before.

  • Nero 7 Premium includes
  • Nero Home
  • Nero Scout
  • Nero StartSmart
  • Nero Burning ROM 7
  • Nero Express 7
  • Nero WaveEditor 3
  • Nero SoundTrax 2
  • Nero Vision 4
  • Nero Recode 2
  • Nero ShowTime 2
  • Nero MediaHome
  • Nero PhotoSnap
  • Nero CoverDesigner 2
  • Nero Toolkit
  • Nero BackItUp 2
  • InCD 5
  • Nero SoundBox
  • Nero ImageDrive

It also comes with an optional Yahoo Toolbar which is not required to run Nero. It’s just there for endorsement and enriching Nero users’ experience.

What’s new? Nero 6 is well known for it’s frequent upgrades but this version is not just an upgrade. Nero 7 Premium adds more functionality to Nero programs suite. Nero 7 could manage and search for media files using Nero Home. The company claims it as a media management system, much like Windows Media Center. It also supports some remote controls for your viewing pleasure. Nero Scout adds a new explorer-like functionality in My Computer and is optimized to access media files in your computer. Nero StartSmart 3 looks similar with StartSmart 2, just with more launchers (shortcuts). Nero Burning ROM 7 and Nero Expess 7 now support DVD-R Dual Layer format, DVD+R Double Layer and Lightscribe. Lightscribe enables user to “print” their own labels in a Lightscribe CD/DVD using only their own burners. No printer required. Also, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD is already supported in Nero 7! I’m clueless how you are going to use this feature without a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD drive though. :P Other remarkable upgrades can be read here.

Overall Nero 7 is better than Nero 6 but most people won’t need all these featues anyway. Probably some people will never ever use some of these great features. So if you’re not a digital media enthusiast and you are happy with Nero 6 or later, then don’t upgrade yet. I suggest you wait for a couple of months until you feel comfortable for an upgrade. If you want to upgrade, do yourself a favor and don’t install what you do NOT need; otherwise, you’ll get a bloatware.

The new download is version 7.0.1.2 and is more stable. A demo version is also available for download if you want to to try it out first.
