Naruto

My girlfriend has finished watching around episode 120+, and this coming school holidays I’m playing catching up on watching the TV series of Naruto. At first I’m really frustrated and disappointed because she didn’t lend me a copy of few episodes -_-; Her reason was “the quality on some episodes were poor”. I don’t really care how blur and/or fugly the episodes are as long as I can read the english subtitles, really. Luckily I was able to get clear copies Naruto from episode 1 to 139 (and still counting…) I’ve already watched it until episodes 10. I could have watched more episodes today but I’m waiting my brother from school so we could watch together. Nevertheless I’m beginning to like Naruto after all the trouble it caused between me and my girl… *pufff*

Anyway “Naruto vs. Sasuke” crossed my mind and searched Google. I was really amused how many topics covering this argument showed up on my search. Here’s my favorite argument, taken from AnimeNation:

OK, beyond that, I have a few things to point out. If you look at where both Naruto and Sasuke started and where they are now, Naruto has seen a much greater rate of growth. From being unable to create Bunshins to Kage Bunshin to control of Kyuubi and summoning of Gama Bunta to Rasengan, Naruto has grown an indescribable amount. Sasuke has used the same Grand Fireball no jutsu since early on, although he has gained and improved other powerful abilities such as Chidori, his taijutsu, and Sharingan. However, Sasuke’s most powerful technique, Chidori, has a limit to it’s uses. Naruto’s new (but not most powerful) tech, Rasengan has greater power and a limit only to the amount of the user’s Chakra. Plus, if I were Naruto, I would just use the ultimate technique, the FROG DROP! Nothing says victory like droping a several ton frog on your opponent.

Yeah, that’s kind of the point of Naruto. For him to grow, starting from a nobody to an eventual good ninja (Hokage is debatable, however). Sasuke is there to be Naruto’s ultimate goal, to earn his respect and be seen as an equal ninja. Sasuke began knowing everything, plus the talent to become more powerful, with less effort. Naruto, OTOH, has to work hard to catch up. It’s a cat and mouse game, IMO.

You’re exactly right. The number one reason why Naruto is so strong: he has the show named after him. (Plus, I wouldn’t want to watch a show called Sasuke: Arrogant Ninja ^_^). I would be surprised to see Naruto become Hokage unless there’s like a five years hence thing. Even at the rate he’s progressing, Jounin would be a huge accomplishment for Naruto to make. Unless the DBZ production team gets involved with Naruto… then Naruto could achive Super Hokage Level 3 by the end of the 500th episode… -_-;

LOL :P
