Digital Nocturne

Today I replaced my power supply unit in my Pentium 4 system to prevent it from abnormal shut downs. It seemed that the old PSU already broke down and caused over heating after several hours of usage. (due to abuse) Aside from that, remember my fanless MX 440? Well, my Kuya Roy managed to fix it. He only needed oil to lubricate the fan and it worked like magic! My GPU fan is already working! Hehe.. I feel stupid because I attempted to oil it but I didn’t continue. I guess I have to learn from the master first to do it the proper way… Anyway, what’s important is that my PC is already stable.

Here we go again… no class. The Visual Basic lab was postponed due to our professor’s unexpected absence (quite disturbing since he already missed our class quite a lot…)

I swapped my old ATI Radeon 7000 with an Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 440 for $0.00 this afternoon. I know it’s quite old but it’s more powerful than my previous graphics card.

After installing my new GPU I noticed that its fan was broken. It was not spinning. Well, even though MX 440 doesn’t generate much heat I’m still worried that its chipset might get damaged. It already made my system quite unstable. I’ve been experiencing some automatic system [improper] shutdown. I will purchase a new fan this weekend to save my computer from trouble.

I got my score in Discrete Mathematics today and I failed because of one silly question. That’s worth 20 points so I argued my point to my professor. I was reasonable in defending my answer because I strictly followed the instruction. I approached the problem set the way it was required; whoever, the way my professor and some of my classmates approached it was beyond my logical reasoning. Either they did not follow the “proper instruction”or they used a totally different logic to come up with their answer. It was so frustrating .

Waaah! I got a copy of Need For Speed Underground 2…. It’s very addictive! I can’t get off my hands when I’ve touched the controller already. I wish I have a better video card to boost the graphics. Sadly, I don’t have the budget. Donation please?

I learned today that you can actually create a start up CD-ROM, making start up floppy diskette useless. I don’t even want to bother using floppies again No wonder there are some branded computers that totally get rid of floppy drive.

I’m in the process of formatting my computer because it’s already full of crap. Since the day I bought my PC, it has been fed with a lot of trial softwares, spywares, virus, etc. It’s time to do it over again. However, I’m having a bad time backing up all my valuable datas because I have at least 30-50 gigabytes to backup. I didn’t want to burn them to CDRWs because it costs too much… even if I had a DVD-RW -/+ I wouldn’t burn my backup. They are not cheap… so I simply used my laptop’s HD for storing all the important files from my PC. It’s darn tedious.
